Director – Product Management

The Director of Product Management will grow our Product Management function, with a focus on pharma discovery and customer-facing activity.

This individual will grow our P&L-focused Product Management function, with a focus on pharma discovery, and with an added focus on customer-facing activity. With functional partners like the Business Development, Sales, FAS, User Experience, Marketing, R&D and more, the main goal of this role is to drive adoption and sales for WuXi NextCODE’s drug discovery and cohort products.

This position is preferably based in our Cambridge, MA office.

 Essential Functions

  • Frame and drive the P&L for the pharma discovery and cohort product portfolios. Key areas of focus may include advancing the development of software-as-a-service (SaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) offerings, and Big Data solutions for biomarker development in oncology.
  • Define pricing strategy, product messaging, positioning and configuration to ensure performance versus business goals are met.
  • Drive the commercialization, go-to-market and product marketing of all offerings in partnership with other product managers as appropriate.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including User Experience, R&D, commercial, business development, project management and alliance partners to drive toward best business decisions and optimize IRR.
  • Conduct continuous competitive monitoring to define trends and strategically evaluate new market opportunities.
  • Act as the chief evangelist for the product portfolio.
  • Lead cross-functional meetings and provide updates to executive-level committees.
  • Passionate about “outside-in”, market-driven, and user-driven decision-making, this individual will focus on collaboration with customers and key opinion leaders to develop proof-of-concept data and penetrating key application areas.
  • Prepare and present seminars to a wide array of audiences.
  • Help support technical training for Sales Representatives as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Sales Representatives to develop technical selling strategies.
  • Represent WuXi NextCODE at trade shows and vendor shows to present our products and gather competitive information.
  • Gather customer requirements to help inform product roadmap.

Required Education and Experience

  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, bioinformatics, pharmacology, oncology or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in product management for NGS & Bioinformatics products.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with agile software development methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience running the P&L for a product line or business area.
  • Customer focused with a deep understanding and command of oncology and other disease areas. Intimate knowledge of customer requirements and competitive offerings.
  • Ability to effectively communicate value proposition and technical information to a range of customer and internal audiences required.
  • A strategic thinker with excellent analytical and organizational skills who can drive the translation of strategy into execution with direct and cross-functional teams.
  • Existing network and relationships (scientific and business) within pharma & biotechnology companies and other stakeholders worldwide.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and lead effectively with sales and marketing professionals, product management leaders, technology leaders, UX leaders, and other key stakeholders.
  • The willingness to take risks and fail fast.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Additional Master of Business Administration preferred.
  • Experience in working with customers worldwide is a plus.
