Head of Sequencing Sales

Responsible for leading a global team of Business Development Directors of WXNC’s genetic sequencing products.

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this individual is responsible for leading a global team of Business Development Directors of WXNC’s genetic sequencing products. This individual will play a key role as a “player-coach” who is able to hunt and close deals while coaching and leading a team of salespeople. Success will be measured by execution against individual and team goals.


  • Lead the commercial sales activity for genetic sequencing products
  • Develop and deliver on core sales metrics, including quotas and objectives for the team. Execute on annual sales plans
  • Analyze industry activity to identify and prioritize opportunities, grow pipelines and develop new partnerships
  • Drive the design, negotiation, and execution of deals. Present proposed terms to executive management for approval, including strategic rationale, deal structure, valuation and risks
  • Collaborate with cross functional team to adapt and scope sequencing solutions to meet client needs
  • Achieve revenue and growth targets for global sequencing sales and maintain accurate sales forecasts
  • Work with marketing and product teams to drive sales initiatives
  • Anticipate and address client challenges while building lasting relationships with key decision makers and buyers
  • Manage, motivate and guide two Directors of Business Development
  • Coach and develop industry-specific sales skills, strategies and tactics to encourage meeting business goals and attaining personal success
  • Build the team as necessary; recruit, develop and retain talent
  • As a Commercial team leader, drive organizational development and change where needed and/or appropriat


  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience OR Master’s/Doctoral degree with 7+ years of experience
  • 4-6 years of Genomic sequencing sales experience including bioinformatics
  • 6 to 8 years of experience in Genomics, Pharmaceuticals, CRO, Biotechnology, or SAS Sales
  • Verifiable track record of success personally executing against plan in a B2B environment
  • Strong relationship builder with networking skills and a strong existing network, particularly in the biopharma clinical trial space and/or oncology area
  • High energy, self-starter that operates with a strong sense of service and urgency
  • Able to perform exceptionally well in a fast-paced, metrics driven environment
  • Strong executive presence with a polished and professional image
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Technically proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
