Key Account Manager

As a Key Account Manager, you will work to establish trusted relationships within strategically important accounts. 

As a Key Account Manager, you will work to establish trusted relationships within strategically important accounts.  You will develop a deep understanding of your customers’ strategy, structure, processes, and people to provide personalized customer service.  In collaboration with clients, you will identify areas where strategic agendas align to fuel growth.

Essential Functions

Results Driven
  • As a business leader, you understand key performance metrics and how to manage business to deliver results and will provide leadership to client implementation and project teams.
  • You will develop and implement an account strategy and report progress at quarterly business reviews
  • You are able to identify areas of risk and implement mitigation plans and are proactive with respect to conflict management.
  • You take a multi-year view and are able to define and grow new sources of revenue within an account.
  • Above all you love making clients happy, you care deeply about their experience and overall customer satisfaction.
Project Management
  • You execute flawlessly, you can traverse from big-picture thinking to detailed plans that deliver value on time and on budget
  • You work proactively with client teams to identify potential issues and plan mitigation (budgets, timelines, resources etc.)
  • You listen like a bat to identify signals / new needs or areas where WXNC can add additional value
  • You are a “doer”, known for getting things done (with a smile)
  • You have built a career through cross-functional collaboration within and across organizations
  • You are committed to being present, working face to face and collaboratively with clients
Passion for Precision Medicine
  • You bring a passion for precision medicine and derive a sense of purpose from tackling tough problems.
  • You have the intellectual curiosity to quickly develop a deep understanding of WXNC product offerings and the value they bring to clients.
  • You enjoy staying up to date on industry trends that impact genomics and precision medicine.

Required Education and Experience

  • BA/BS degree in a science-related field or equivalent related education and experience, plus moderate experience in Oncology, Genomics research and in business development
  • 6 to 8 years of experience in Genomics, Pharmaceuticals, CRO or Biotechnology
  • Demonstrated Account Management and or Sales experience
  • Experience with end-to-end business development, including identifying opportunities, engaging potential customers, managing the credentialing/ validation process, creating and closing multi-million dollar deals
  • Previous experience navigating complex, matrixed organizations from outside
  • Strong executive presence with superb communications skills
  • Relentless problem-solver who does not stop until customers are happy
  • Ability to prioritize and strategize to meet demanding deadlines

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Life Sciences preferred


  • Travel may be required up to 60%.
