Marketing Services Director

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide on-the-ground stewardship in the Cambridge headquarters to help drive the corporate global communications efforts of the corporate brand

The Marketing Services Director is responsible for program management and executional oversight of WuXi NextCODE’s (WXNC) corporate brand marketing, public relations, and advertising initiatives. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide on-the-ground stewardship in the Cambridge headquarters to help drive the corporate global communications efforts of the corporate brand and support business development and product marketing teams using market research, digital marketing, content marketing, marketing communications, advertising and public relations, events and speaking engagements. This role will report directly to the lead for corporate communications and brand located in the Dublin, Ireland office.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the corporate communications lead to develop the overall marketing strategy and subsequently oversee the day-to-day implementation to satisfy company goals
  • Program management of corporate advertising, corporate marketing campaigns and public relations for a diverse spectrum of programs and projects, including direct and digital marketing, content marketing (specifically the corporate website and social media channels), speaking engagements and events
  • Program management of all corporate brand strategy initiatives, ensuring brand governance, consistency and quality
  • Support the development of product marketing programs which drive company goals and present a strong and meaningful image of WXNC among key target audiences, market influencers, partners and Key Opinion Leaders
  • Develop competitive analysis/market intelligence, promotions, communications and budgets, business development support, strategic planning for revenue retention and growth
  • Plan and organize corporate marketing  functions to ensure they project the WXNC’s unique “voice”
  • Support WXNC internal communications programs to help maximize recruitment and retention practices
  • Track and report on key metrics around the marketing services KPIs
  • Develop, track and report on the annual marketing services budget
  • “Listen” to the trends of the market to inform the corporate marketing efforts for WXNC
  • Liaise with other departments and offices to guide planned marketing services programs as well as unearth opportunistic marketing and PR initiatives
  • Manage and maintain a highly-efficient team of direct reports in the US-based marketing services team
  • Oversee and the direct the efforts of US-based external supplier relationships such as public relations, event planning and marketing agencies
  • Ensure all suppliers within and across markets are aligned and provide a cohesive approach

Required Education & Experience

The Marketing Services Director should have a balance of practical mindset with creative acumen and project management skills to manage and implement complex marketing programs.  He/she will have both strong creative and analytical capabilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Marketing
  • Experience in a science-related field
  • 7+ years of experience in marketing / communications roles
  • 5+ years’ industry relevant experience in business-to-business marketing with specific experience marketing complex business solutions
  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory / managerial role
  • Experience in advertising, public relations, branding, design, digital marketing, customer relationship marketing, events and speaking engagements
  • Ability to apply marketing techniques over digital (e.g. social media) and non-digital (e.g. press) channels
  • Direct experience in the management of external marketing and/or public relations agencies / consultants to ensure KPIs are established and continually met
  • Energetic, results-driven, self-starter with a collaborative mindset, and ability to think strategically and analytically
  • Strong presence with a demonstrated ability to manage upwards
  • Demonstrated ability to manage creative teams and respectively and thoughtfully provide creative feedback and critique
  • Outstanding oral and written skills and interpersonal abilities (must be fluent in English)
  • Adept at achieving results through cross-functional collaboration within and across organizations
  • Flexible to accommodate multiple cultures and working styles
  • This role will require quarterly overseas travel and flexibility for meetings with team members in separate time zones

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience in genomics preferred

Software

  • Demonstrated proficiency – Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and mail suite integration
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft SharePoint
  • Familiarity with social media management tools (Hootsuite or other)
  • Comfortable regularly using collaboration / videoconferencing platforms
  • Comfortable with both Windows and Mac environment
