Bioinformatics Scientist

The ideal Bioinformatics Scientist candidate will have experience in NGS data analysis and pipeline development.

We are seeking an innovative, PhD-level Bioinformatics Scientist to join the WuXiNextCODE Genomics in Cambridge, MA.

Essential functions

  • Join a creative and flexible team that will investigate the impact of the biological variants in disease state or cancer
  • Use existing secondary analysis pipelines or develop new pipelines to meet our ever-growing customer needs for data analysis in the NGS areas
  • Must have a proven track record across a wide range of computational biological methods, e.g. systems biology, data integration, differential gene expression, &c.
  • Given the multi-disciplinary nature of the position, strong collaboration and communication skills are expected

Required education and experience

  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biological Science, Computer Science or other related disciplines
  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience or equivalent postdoctoral training
  • Experience in NGS data analysis and pipeline development
  • Experience in using common bioinformatics tools such as BWA, STAR, Picard, GATK, fastQC, etc
  • Familiar with biological databases such as NCBI, UCSC, HGMD etc
  • Programming experience (e.g., Perl, Python, R, Java). Hands-on experience with python is preferred.
  • Experience with shell scripting and working in Unix/Linux environment
  • Experience in database query language such as SQL is a plus
